Midwifery for the People Free prenatal care!
Traditional midwifery care is not rushed and provides individualized care to women by addressing their well-being on the physical, emotional and spiritual levels.
The hallmarks of traditional midwifery prenatal care are:
Leisurely Visits – most visits are in your home. The prenatal clinic day is in a relaxed, homey setting where we will meet together, and take the time to get to know one another enough so that we can focus in on where you are in your pregnancy and what you need. Most visits with mamas are 1-2 hours in length; clinic visits are a full 45 minutes since we have more mamas to get in, and you’ll only be waiting if you arrive early!
Individualized Care – Not every person is the same. Every woman, baby and pregnancy is unique. We want you to be educated on your options and make the decisions that are best for YOU, with support to do so. You are not a number or even just a name; you are a unique person that deserves being treated as such!
Wise Woman Care – We do not practice the medical model of prenatal care, which is only looking for disease or pathology. We focus on wellness, health and the ways to achieve the maximum of each! Midwives are experts in “normal,” and pregnant women should be supported not just physically, but mentally, emotionally and spiritually. We look forward to putting you back in the center of your own pregnancy and supporting you in many full ways as you go through this transition. We can still check your blood pressure, urine, pulse but also teach you what this means and why you might choose it. We are thrilled to help you feel your own belly, connect with your baby through knowing his/her position or hearing their heartbeat with a fetoscope (like a stethoscope)
