Birth is Sacred and unique. It is the moment when new life breathes for the first time, taking in their surroundings as their first imprint. No two women or births are alike! You have the capacity to change the world by bringing new life into a peaceful, loving space in your highest power!

As a traditional independent midwife, I offer pregnancy, birth and postpartum support to Sacred Birth Traditions members only. I support your journey by keeping YOU at the center of your experience. Through personal prenatal home visits, I offer education, clinical, emotional and spiritual guidance for your home birth. Care includes access to technology and routine testing should you want or need these.

Care can begin preconception, and I walk with you through pregnancy, birth, postpartum and beyond in the comfort of your home.

Women who have the desire to touch their primal instincts in birth are changing the current fear paradigm to one of power and control. Women own birth, and I am excited to share my knowledge and passions with you!

“From the moment I met Valerie she put me at ease. Seeking a holistic, intuitive, natural, beautiful birth, sadly none of the midwives I met prior gave me the confidence this was possible, until I met her. I looked forward to every appointment from that point on. Quickly she became a dear friend as we sipped warm tea in my living room and spoke of all the ways to create the birth I was seeking. It was exactly the type of experience I longed for and wasn’t sure if it was possible to find in an era where birth has become so medicalized. But I found what I was looking for in Valerie, and I am so incredibly grateful I did.  She gave me so much reassurance in the process and myself. She answered every single question I had. We spoke in depth on nutrition. She lent me amazing books. She encouraged me to visualize my birth. She genuinely believed in me. She put me at ease. She was somehow able to ease the concerns of my anxious husband. She patiently interacted with my six year old son who was overly excited about the birth and insisted on being in the center of every appointment. When it came time for the delivery, which was days in the making- between Braxton hicks, a slow water break, etc, we were constantly in contact and there was so much security in having her in my corner. I was 9 days overdue and never felt pressured that it was anything other than divine timing. I went into labor in the middle of the night and she and her amazing apprentice were on their way as soon as we hung up the phone. She held space for us (my husband and I) to have our birth experience without unnecessary interruptions, but continued to reassure us in her words and presence. I remember my tone must have changed because she swiftly came- knowing we were close. It was about 7 hours of active labor much of it very intense for me, so in the pushing phase I just kept thinking “I can do one more”- as the intensity increased. My baby’s head was out for several minutes and Valerie knew something was off but so calmly just asked that I just change my position to allow more space for the baby. She then checked and felt baby’s hand. A nuchal arm. She gently helped the arm along with the next contraction. The baby was born with the cord wrapped around his neck three times, according to Valerie this is likely why my body slowly progressed in the pushing phase. Our son was born a healthy (and shocking) 9lbs 6oz via water birth - with the sun just peaking over the mountains and a hummingbird humming outside my window. The care I received by Valerie was exactly what I had envisioned- from our first meeting to the continued care I received postpartum. If you are looking for a partner to help you create the birth of your dreams there is no one else in this world I think more capable.
